Artist’s Statement

To me, art is a way to express my thoughts without having to use words. I’ve always been shy, and I’ve found that art allows me to have a voice without ever having to speak. Art helps soothe stress and frustration when life has me worked up, the same way it lifts my spirits when life has me down.I work in a wide range of mediums and on a wide range of subjects. I’ve always been drawn to details, and this shows in the many still life pieces in my portfolio. However, I also enjoy painting as well as working with various materials to create mixed media pieces.

One of my biggest inspirations is traveling. I often find myself aching to “create” after seeing new places and meeting new people. There is so much beauty in the world, and although it seems impossible to capture the exact essence of a person or a place in art, I really enjoy trying.

The opportunities I’ve had to see different places and meet different people has truly opened my eyes and given me more inspiration than I can imagine. My nostalgic ways often leave me sifting through memories. Many of my favorite pieces I’ve created, began as attempts to capture these moments and tell these stories. As I grow and have new experiences, my art grows with me.
